Pride Month is here and we did some research to find out how you can celebrate. With support from businesses, organizations, and the community as a whole, it is easy to say that love does win here in Hudson CountyIn order to spread the love even more, we put together a roundup of events and other fun activities going on around this time of year that benefit the LBGTQIA+ community. Read on to see where you can celebrate Pride month in Hudson County:

Ani DiFranco w/ Haley Heynderickx in Jersey City at White EagleTuesday, June 12th

Harborside Sport + Spine

At 8:00PM enjoy this concert where Ani DiFranco {one of the first artists to create her own label in 1990}  has been recognized over the years among the feminist pantheon for her entrepreneurship, social activism, and outspoken political lyrics. Watch her kick a** at this local concert. Get your tickets here.

LGBTQ+ Book Club – Tuesday, June 12

Word Bookstore on Newark Avenue is hosting their LGBTQ+ Book Club once again. The book of the month is EM Forster’s “Maurice.” It is a real insight to the pre-Stonewall world of gay individuals trying to find happiness.

Lady Memoir Book ClubWednesday, June 13th

A great thing about this book club is that new members are always welcome! This Wednesday at 7:00PM, you will be able to read and discuss the book Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout.

LGBTQ Poetry SlamThursday, June 14th

Ages 18+ are invited to the library for their open mic poetry slam at 6:30PM. This is a perfect opportunity to get your voice out there and show to world what your made of. Also note: light refreshments will be served.

Rainbow Hummus at Flatbread Grill {Hoboken + Jersey City Locations} – Beginning Friday, June 15th 

Flatbread Grill’s pretty {+ delish} rainbow hummus is back for pride month. Beginning this Friday, June 15th, you can enjoy rainbow hummus at both of their locations. Proceeds from rainbow hummus purchases benefit Hudson Pride in Jersey City.

LGBTQ ROYAL Youth PromSaturday, June 16th

This “prom” starts at 6:00PM and includes a sit-down dinner from 7:00PM-8:00PM, a free photo booth, DJ & Dancing all night long with special dance-off competitions. Vogue Bootcamp – Friday, June 19th

Vogue Bootcamp for the month of June will take place on Friday, June 19th. Save the time + location for this free event being held in Jersey City.

Lez-Fest “HEAR THEM ROAR” Open Mic Night – Tuesday, June 19th

Sign up here for this ALL WOMEN’S open mic night that is being hosted from 6:00PM-9:00PM at Atlas Public House in Jersey City. This evening will be filled with music, poetry, and art from empowering women.

Gay History Walking Tour – Saturday, June 23rd

This tour takes place in NYC, but it may be worth it for the history-buffs! It will be held from 1:00PM-3:00PM at The Stonewall Inn {53 Christopher Street in New York, NY}. You will be able to see where the first Gay Pride Parade started and other notable influences. Buy your tickets here.

Drag Queen Story Hour With Harmonica SunbeamSaturday, June 23rd

This is a fun family event with special guest, Harmonica Sunbeam. At 11:00AM this family program is open to family + children from ages 3-8.

NYC Pride ParadeSunday, June 24th

Although it is in NYC, the Pride Parade is a very popular event and worth a trip. it will start at 12:00PM in Greenwich Village. Get your march on and show your support!

March with Hudson PrideSunday, June 24th

Hudson County Pride’s NYC event coordination will be taking place from 9:00AM-9:00PM. People in the area can sign up and join the event and march with the people of Hudson County.

New York Red Bulls Pride Night – Saturday, July 14th

The New York Red Bulls are celebrating pride as they team up with Garden State Equality with a special game against Sporting Kansas City. The game is at 7:00PM at the Red Bull Arena {600 Cape May Street, Harrison, NJ}. The first 1,000 people to purchase tickets here will receive a special edition Pride Night scarf.

SoulCyclePRIDE {1400 Washington Street, Hoboken}

img0330At SoulCycle, all souls are welcome. For the month of June, 5% of all pride pack proceeds will support The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention, and suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ youth. To purchase a pack, visit here. Also, pride-themed classes will be held and they want you to join the party.

Antique Bar + Bakery {122 Willow Avenue, Hoboken}

This fancy + colorful drink is called the “Rainbow Connection.” Antique Bar + Bakery put together vodka, Chambord, pineapple juice, egg white, and even edible glitter {of course}!

Celebrating Pride weekend in NYC is a big deal, so Corgi Spirits {an LGBT-owned distillery} is proud to show its colors and support the love for everyone. This adorable rainbow label vodka will be available in the tasting room for the rest of the summer. $2 will be donated for every bottle purchased to the Hudson Pride Center in Jersey City. Stop by and show your support!

Connect with the local LGBTQIA+ community

Transview support group meets in Jersey City

Every Tuesday from 6:00PM-8:00PM, this social support group for anyone on the transgender or gender-variant spectrum meets at Hudson Pride Connections Center. In this group you can socialize, share experiences, discuss current issues, and coordinate outings. It is a great way to reach out to others.
