• Hoboken Girl Helps: Prom Prep Rally Fundraiser + Dress Drive

    With the success of Hoboken Girl Help’s first event at Women Rising, we are proud to announce our Prom Prep Rally Fundraiser to help out students at Hoboken High School and surrounding Jersey City high schools.

    ^These may or may not be wedding dresses, but as Beyoncé would do [to the Grammys], you can totes wear a wedding dress to your prom.

    You know those old bridesmaids and prom dresses you still have your closet? We want them. Here’s the sitch:

    We are collecting {gently-used or new} between today and April 25, 2017:

    – bridesmaid dresses

    – long gowns

    – other new or gently-used formal wear

    – Men’s tuxes will be accepted on a case by case basis; please email hobokengirlteam@gmail.com for this!

    – formal jewelry {please put jewelry in Ziploc bags when dropping off and use hangers for dresses}

    – NEW cosmetics

    – NEW hair/nail products

    Drop-offs of items will be accepted at various locations:

      • Hoboken High School from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM M-F
      • Boutique Realty {537 Garden Street, Hoboken} from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM M-F, 10:00AM-4PM Sat
      • Boutique Realty {215 Newark Avenue, Jersey City} from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
      • Alba Boutique {716 Washington Street, Hoboken} from 11:00AM to 7:00 PM M-Sat, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM Sun}
      • Hudson Family Chiropractic and Physical Therapy {51 Newark Street, Suite 203 – Entrance between Starbucks and Papaya Dog} from 8AM-7PM M-F, 10:00AM-1PM Sat

    Donations will be accepted through April 25th, 2017.

    What happens next?

    All donated items will be set up at Hoboken High School for students in need to look through on April 27th with Tiffany Piñero, helping students pick out an outfit. Each dress will cost $5 , jewelry will cost $3 per piece, and each makeup item will cost $1 — 100% of the money raised during this “sale” will go towards Suits for Success {a non-profit that helps adult individuals on their quest for full-time employment} — which is a great way to pay it forward to another organization in need. If interested in helping volunteer on 4/27/17 from 2PM-6PM, please email hobokengirlteam@gmail.com

    How do I spread the word about this?

    Easy peasy! Please share this link with family, friends, business contacts in the area on social media! And just for kicks, we’re sharing our best “prom pic” on Instagram for all to see and share this:

    “Sharing my prom[or bridesmaid] pic to raise awareness for Suits for Success and @HobokenGirlBlog’s #PromPrepRally for charity and looking for dress and formalwear donations of bridesmaid dresses, long gowns, other new or gently-used formal wear, formal jewelry {please put jewelry in Ziploc bags when dropping off and use hangers for dresses}, NEW cosmetics, NEW hair/nail products.
