The Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah is a time for reflection in order to usher in the Jewish New Year. We have compiled a list of ways to celebrate the High Holy Days locally. Rosh Hashanah is happening this year on Monday, September 6th starting at sundown until sundown Wednesday, September 8th. Read on for all the ways to celebrate Rosh Hashanah this year.
Hoboken + Jersey City
Services at Temple Beth-El
Temple Beth-El is offering limited admission to attend in-person services regardless of membership status. All attendees must fill out this form and provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination status no later than Tuesday, August 31st. There will be no walk-ins permitted under any circumstances. Capacity and availability for each service are limited. Confirmation will be provided no later than Thursday, September 2nd. Please be sure to identify all family members in your registration. High Holy Day indoor services will also be streamed on YouTube Live here.

Services at The United Synagogue of Hoboken
The United Synagogue of Hoboken will host a range of services for Rosh Hashanah for people of all ages. Preregistration and proof of COVID-19 vaccination are required for most events. Register here.
Monday, September 6th
- – 4-5PM Early Childhood Outdoor Family Service for Young Families appropriate for children up to age 7 at
Church Square Park. - – 7PM Erev Rosh Hashanah Evening Service will take place indoors at USH located at 115 Park Avenue in Hoboken.
Tuesday, September 7th
- – 9:30AM Morning Service, including Shofar blowing, will take place indoors at USH located at 115 Park Avenue in Hoboken.
- – 3:30-4:45PM USH Learning Center Outdoor Family Service. Event appropriate for ages 8-12. The event will take place outdoors at USH.
- – 4-5PM Early Childhood Outdoor Family Service for Young Families appropriate for children up to age 7 at Pier A Park.
- – 5PM Mincha (afternoon service), will take place indoors at USH.
- – 5:30PM Public Shofar Blowing and Tashlikh at Pier A Park.
- – 7:00PM Evening Service will take place indoors at USH located at 115 Park Avenue in Hoboken.
Wednesday, September 8th
- – 9:30AM Morning Service, includes Shofar, will take place indoors at USH located at 115 Park Avenue in Hoboken.
- – 10AM Early Childhood ZOOM Family Service for Young Families appropriate for children up to age 7 (online only).
- – 3PM Public Shofar Blowing. The event will take place outdoors at USH, 115 Park Avenue in Hoboken.
- – 3:30-4:45PM USH Learning Center Outdoor Family.
Challah Bake with Chabad Young Professionals of Hoboken + Jersey City

Monday, September 6th through Thursday, September 16th, The Manhattan Jewish Experience will celebrate the High Holidays with services, interactive prayer lectures, singing, and a welcoming atmosphere. West services are made specifically for beginners and Young Jewish Professionals with limited Jewish educational backgrounds.
