Here’s a list of our favorite skiing, snowtubing, and skating spots not far from Hoboken. You’ll be enjoying a winter wonderland in no time — even with fake snow.

It’s only an hour’s drive, there are no tolls along the way and the resort offers trails for everyone from the bunny slope beginner to the black diamond daredevil. Thirty different trails ensure skiers and snowboarders won’t be bored before their visit’s through and there are plenty of activities for those less inclined to hop on the lift, too. Non-skiers in your group can hit the snow tube hills, and thrill-seekers can sign up for zipline tours that offer ridiculously awesome panoramic views as high as 1,500 feet over the mountain-top lake.

Best Weekend Getaway With Friends

The Poconos, Pennsylvania

The Poconos isn’t a single destination, technically, but the entire area is a can’t-miss destination for the winter season. Camelback Mountain Resort, Shawnee Mountain Ski Area, and Blue Mountain Resort all offer fresh powder and tons of trails in the area and AirBNB is loaded with rental houses that accommodate groups of every size {some of which come with some super swanky amenities like lake views, game rooms and hot tubs- perfect for apres-ski party time}.

Best Post-Work Date Spot

Newport Skates — Jersey City, NJ

{closed for the season}

Right on the Jersey City Waterfront is Newport Skates, a seasonal ice rink with great hours and affordable prices. After you’ve put your ice princess skills to the test, grab hot chocolates and enjoy a winter walk along the water. Tip: If you’re not within walking distance, take the light rail to the Newport stop it’s a short walk and way better than dealing with a not-so-stellar parking sitch during the week.
