UPDATE 6/20/15: Hoboken Handyman is under new ownership, so we cannot speak to current status of quality of home improvements/handywork.

If you missed last week and the week before’s post on my bathroom and kitchen remodels with Hoboken Handyman, click here and here. They did such an amazing job, we figured we would kill THREE birds and do our walls and floors too. Why not make the place completely our own?

:::: Re-enter Paul & Peter {they must be sick of me already, huh!?} ::::

This is what we were working with {albeit we had already started a bit of construction in this pic}…

Things we wanted:

1. Remove the chair rail {molding that you can see the white stripe} – just didn’t fit with our more “modern” theme.

2. Sand down the floors and re-stain them in our living and kitchen area {not feeling the cherry red}.

3. Paint all of the walls a nice light gray {one shade darker than the cabinets} as well as the cabinets a lighter white.

So…our floors. Now as you saw before, these bad boys were a beautiful oak masked by a cherry reddish stain.

That HAD to go! Here is what we came up with once Hoboken Handyman sanded it down to the actual oak:

Totally lightens up the room. In a word = Obsessed. I could not be happier with the job they did!

Here you can see a bit of the new floors — and the cabinets are a shade lighter than what the kitchen cabinets look like!

Maybe, just maybe there will be one more final post about some home decor {after we come out of IKEA furniture building hell — but hey, they actually have some really great stuff even if you have to build it yourself}. We bought several fun chairs from Home Goods for our bar area as well as an entertainment center and a sectional couch from Raymour and Flanigan that we love. The good news is that most of the remodeling is done…now the moving, organizing, and complete unpacking 101 begins!

Thanks again to Hoboken Handyman for a job well done. What did you think of our Hoboken condo remodel?
