Flu Shots
Flu shots are recommended for any child age 6 months and older. Those who are getting the flu vaccine for the first time require 2 injections given at least 4 weeks apart for ages 6 months to 8 years old — otherwise, it is a single vaccine every year.
Flu injections are currently being offered {just in time for flu season} and it is recommended to be vaccinated before the end of October since it takes a few weeks for the vaccine to be fully effective. However, the practice offers vaccination {as it is still beneficial} even into January and later. Tenafly Pediatrics can administer the flu shot at a check-up {if taking place in the fall} or a separate appointment should be made. Flu shots are also offered to parents for a small out-of-pocket fee — so you can get the family done all together.
