A very special edition of Hoboken Girl’s The Dogs of Hoboken this week is here! It ain’t Hoboken without Sinatra. In honor of Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday, we’d like to introduce a suave four legged man named after old blue eyes himself: Meet Frankie the hound!

“We always wanted a dog but we wanted to adopt. We adopted Frankie from the Monmouth County SPCA. Since we recently had moved to Hoboken at the time we though it fitting to name him after Frank Sinatra. It was love at first sight for us. Adopting Frankie is truly one of the best decisions we ever made.” says Frankie’s dad Ian.

“Frankie has enough personality to keep you entertained for hours. Whether it’s him moaning and groaning for you to wake up in the morning or chasing down every stick on the ground, his personality is infectious. While he is technically a dog, he acts more human than canine and if he had it his way, he would be with us every minute of every day.”

“Any time he sees a dog, he lays on the sidewalk, ready and waiting to give a big hello. Everyone that meets Frankie comments on his handsome features and Ashley jokes that he has a future in modeling. He loves bow ties, bully sticks, the NY Giants (he will cheer for the Steelers to make his Dad happy), toys, running, sleeping, puppuccinos and everything else a typical dog enjoys. There is truly just something so very special about the little guy and we couldn’t imagine a day without him.” says Frankie’s mom Ashley.

Frankie Q & A

Favorite activity?

Wrestling with other pups.

Favorite dog treat?

Peanut butter filled Kong.

Favorite human food?

Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean ice cream. He loves to indulge, but is always conscience of his figure.

Happy place?

Frankie is happy 100% of the time but any time we take him outside whether it’s a walk or a trip to the dog park, he’s in his glory.

Favorite Hoboken restaurant?

Fiore’s of course. He can’t get enough of that fresh mutz.

Celebrity counterpart?

Prince Harry. We treat him like royalty but he knows how to let loose and have a good time. Not to mention, he does have red hair.

Favorite naughty habit?

He loves chewing on carpets. Ashley rolled out a carpet a few months ago and wasn’t a big fan of the pattern so she planned to return it the next day. Unfortunately, Frankie didn’t like it either and decided to rip it to shreds. We just bought a new carpet – fingers crossed.

Scared of?

Frankie is afraid of the typical “scary” dog things like the vacuum and hair dryer but he is very fearful of “The Claw,” which we accompany with the Jaws theme song of course.

Best dog friend?

His cousins Madison and Eli, both labs.

Funny and/or scary story?

Frankie took it upon himself to unpack Ian’s shipment of Nutrisystem which was filled with enough food to last an entire month. When we walked into the apartment, Frankie was in a sea of wrappers and on his 5th serving of double chocolate chip muffins, about to dive into a bag of cheddar popcorn. Horrified, we immediately called the vet who forwarded us to poison control. Luckily, Frankie handled the situation like a champ but we both know he still relishes in the glory that was a 15-course human meal.
