The Hoboken Bride: 5 {Alternative} Bridal Shower Venues in Hoboken

Weekly, we have a ton of Hoboken brides emailing to ask about our favorite spots for alternative bridal shower venues and wedding venues. While we can’t give away all of our secrets to Hoboken in one little post, we have a few bridal shower spots that are sure to wow your guests and make any bride happy! Here they are:

A few tips to make the shower “non-traditional” and alternative {i.e. more fun for the guests!}:

Make it a cocktail party or happy hour, rather than typical brunch setting. Open bar always gets a thumbs up from the guests!

Vepo Clean

– Don’t open gifts at the shower — really helps with the “flow” of events and makes it less awkward for the bride!

Harborside Sport + Spine

– Consider games that don’t require everyone to stop talking {and disrupt the flow of the events} — things like filling out recipe cards, date ideas, or fun games that are easy to play without disrupting everyone from chatting.

Hobbs Inc

– A candy bar or other “food station” can be lots of fun to keep guests entertained {and also can be the “gift” for them to take-home at the end}. Win/Win!

1. The Brass Rail {135 Washington Street}

If you’ve never been to The Brass Rail, you’re definitely missing out. With delicious food + cocktails that are sure to wow your guests, it’s a perfect neighborhood spot for a bridal shower. They have two separate areas that are used for either a more casual event like a cocktail hour or a formal sit down dinner.  The formal dining area is perfect for holding up to 70 guests, and best of all the area provides your guests with a gorgeous view of downtown Hoboken-it can’t get better than that!

AXIS School of Dance

2. City Bistro {56 14th Street}

city-bistro

Known for its rooftop views and late night dance parties on the roof — City Bistro also has a wonderful space on its 2nd floor for events – definitely a great spot for an alternative shower or party gathering {and they have a full menu, too!}.

3. Kolo Klub {1422 Grand Street}

Kolo-Klub

The Kolo Klub is also a wedding venue {see our waterfront wedding guide to the area}, but they also offer bridal shower events. They work exclusively with AD Catering {Anthony David’s}, so you know the food they bring in will be delicious!

4. Lulu’s in the W Hoboken {225 River Street, 2nd Floor}

Where we’re having our June 10th Hoboken Girl Social, Lulu’s is also an amazing bridal shower venue {with views of NYC!}. There’s an outdoor bar space {pictured above} as well as an indoor bar space — and fun fact: they’re the sister bar of Pier 13! So much fun! I’m sure they could do a “cocktail” bridal shower or happy hour shower event as well.

5. Turtle Club {936 Park Ave}

The Turtle Club has a special place in my heart because that’s actually where I {HG editor Jen} had my bridal shower a few weeks ago. Jacquelyn and her team from EVJ Wedding Co. helped plan and execute a happy hour shower that was perfect: a 3 hour open bar with food and drinks galore!

A few photos from the event {we didn’t open gifts and “Moscow Mules” were the bride’s drink of choice in addition to the open bar, FYI}:
