Note: HG contributor, Danielle, recently took a class at the Hudson School in Hoboken {601 Park Avenue} which is where the pictures of the interior were taken. Trial classes were being held at the Hudson School while they get their new permanent space on Washington Street ready.

About The Max Challenge

Well, to start, The Max Challenge is a gym that offers a comprehensive program combining fitness classes, nutritional counseling, and motivation. These three components are key for someone looking to lose weight and get fit. And what started as a 32 member program in Manalapan in 2009 has now expanded to nearly 70 new locations around the area. “Our classes are not like, UGH I have to go to The Max today. It’s like hey let’s get up and go. I don’t want to miss leg day,” explains Hoboken Max Challenge owner {and total #GirlBoss} Cassandra Wilson.

The 10-Week Challenge

JK Therapy

The Max Challenge is unique in the sense that it combines integral parts to fitness and health. Making a lifestyle change is not an easy thing to do but Cassandra’s crew makes it manageable and motivating. The 10-Week Challenge consists of increasingly harder workouts that meet five times a week for 45 minutes each.

Monday — Cardio
Tuesday — Upper Body
Wednesday — Cardio
Thursday — Lower Body
Friday — Cardio Kickboxing

Consistency is important to maintaining the integrity of the program. Each week the program builds and grows with you. With about 25 people per class, members can expect individualized attention from instructors. It’s like having a personal trainer with you during class, encouraging you, building your self-confidence, and helping to perfect your form.

Nutrition

The nutrition component of this trio is such an important part, and TMC includes this in their challenge. According to Cassandra, “the key to getting fit and healthy is 50% what you put into your body and 50% what you put out in your workouts.” Within the 10 weeks, the nutrition program is laid out into four phases. Each phase matches up with the workouts you are doing at that time. You are basically eating to fuel your body — that is the best way to see results. There are no specialized foods, and everything in the plans are from the grocery store, so it’s easy to shop. The coaches will also explain which foods to eat, how to portion, and when to eat — help that is super necessary when making a lifestyle change.

About the Owner

Cassandra is so passionate about the Hoboken community. She has loved the energy in the Mile Square for a long time, which is what lead her to open a Max Challenge location right here in the heart of it all. After some thought and extensive research, she realized that Hoboken has an awesome fitness community and that people of all sorts could gather here to get in their best shape. “Just this summer, at our Fitness in the Park event, we had over 80 participants. That was awesome,” Cassandra raved. She is excited and hopeful for the turn out of Hoboken’s first 10-Week Challenge.

The Max Challenge Method

This fitness and nutrition model is manageable for everyone. It can be as strenuous or as light as you make it. In class, there might be someone who is way above your level and some who are not. The beauty of it all is that you can make it your own + the instructors will help you individualize your experience. What’s more is that this center is a one-stop shop for all of your fitness and nutritional needs. Being able to come to one place to get both types of coaching is so important for busy Hoboken residents. Having that consistency is so helpful; your nutritional coaches and your fitness coaches are working in tandem to truly build a program that works for you.

The first Hoboken 10-Week Challenge officially begins on September 24th {sign up here!}. The program will begin with before pictures and measurements {just so you can see how much you have improved over the course of the 10 weeks}. At the end of the program, after having followed the fitness and nutritional components, you will notice the pounds and inches you have lost and the self-confidence you have gained. Not only that, you will jump a little higher, run a little faster, feel lighter on your feet, and smile more. Once you complete the challenge, it is important to maintain this new lifestyle change. You will become a legacy member and can continue to take classes at The Max Challenge.

The Max Challenge is currently running a promotion for a membership. If you sign up before the start date, the price is $429 {Think about it — $429 divided by 5 classes a week for 10 weeks comes out to about $8 a class, which is less than your daily coffee obsession if you order a croissant on top}. After September 24th, the price increases to $599, which is still a great price for all of the coaching you will be receiving. Classes run every day, Monday to Friday at 5:00AM, 6:00AM, 9:30AM, 6:00PM, and 8:00PM. Click here to sign up, or email CWilson@themaxchallenge.com for more information.
