Feeling pasty but don’t feel like feeling the cold spray of the airbrush tan? We’ve found a quick and easy solution as the latest installment of The Spray Tan Chronicles. Recently, I got a heated airbrush tan {yes…heated!} at the new Planet Sun location {416 Washington Street}.

You might remember Planet Sun from a previous visit to the Versa Spa {a machine spray tan that I highly recommend as well!}. Well, I came back to the new location to get an airbrush tan using the Evolv sidekick system. The first-ever, heated airbrush in Hoboken!

When you walk into Planet Sun, like its other two locations, you have a clean/bright layout. And although I don’t fake bake, I hear that their regular tanning booths are very clean and that they do an excellent job sanitizing each time someone goes in and out.

So, on to the tan. Planet Sun offers Airbrushing using the Evolv sidekick system. It was developed by the professionals who brought you Mystic Tan and VersaSpa, which they also offer. From their website: Each tanning formulation is enhanced with Tea Tree, Argan and Grapeseed Oil and contains a combination of Erythrulose and DHA to produce a tan that lasts longer, fades more evenly, and provides a natural color for all skin types and tones.

Feet stickies = WEAR THESE!

The difference is that when you are being sprayed by the technician, the air will be warm instead of freezing cold like most sprays!  The Evolv airbrush offers two levels: The A level one color designed for a natural everyday bronzed glow or a level two color designed for a dark, rich, deeper tan. I opted for a level two since I was headed to LBI for the weekend, and I wanted that jlo glow, if you know what I mean {even though I am the farthest thing from tan on most days}.

My biggest advice with this spray? Be extra careful about your feet and hands — make sure to wear the sticky bottoms that they offer so that your feet don’t turn brown on the bottom {I learned from experience!}. Also, if you feel like the tan is getting too dark, make sure to shower at an appropriate time. Planet Sun recommends waiting 12 hours, but it’s okay to go earlier if you’re feeling too dark {I honestly think I should have showered around 6 hour mark. SOOOO dark!}. Also, lotion up your hands and feet in a major way so they don’t get over sprayed {I’d recommend just asking for one spray of your hands to be safe instead of two layers}. I would recommend a Level 1 to get yourself acclimated to the spray tan!

Day after my Level 2 tan. I WAS SO TAN!!!! I miss it. Still, it was a big change for my pale self.

Have you been to the new Planet Sun? What did you think?
