Shaka Bowl 1-Year Anniversary Party: Sunday, October 22nd from 11:00AM to 3:00PM

For one year, Shaka Bowl has been serving up healthy acai bowls, poké bowls, and more in the Mile Square, so it’s time to celebrate! Their one-year anniversary party at the restaurant {720 Monroe} will have live music, foods, prizes {we’re talking $200 Shaka Bowl gift cards and other local freebies}, face painting, and even a bounce house. All proceeds from raffle tickets being sold at the event {with prizes from other local businesses in the area} will be donated to a local breast cancer charity. Come stop by for a bowl and some fun. PS: Word on the street is they’re opening their second location in early 2018!

You’ll literally learn all about Java and Python + other musts when working with computer programming. Whether you’re nine or 90, beginner or advanced, everyone of all ages is welcome to work their brains in a new way. You never know what doors coding could open for you! If you don’t want to dress up this Halloween {but you of course still want to do something fun}, you won’t want to miss our first Flow-in-the-Dark yoga event with Hudson Yoga Project at Local Barre West — complete with Halloween-themed treats post-yoga. The vinyasa flow class is perfect for all levels, so grab your brightest yoga gear and prepare to get glowing. We’ll provide the glow sticks and live DJ {DJ Monopoli} — as well as pumpkin cookies from Insomnia Cookies, gluten-free and vegan treats from Om Sweet Home, seasonal poké bowl samples from Makai Poke Co., cider and beer samples from Hoboken Brewing Company, skincare samples from EC Beauty Studio, and coffee from Jefferson’s Coffee. Grand Opening of The Institute For Women’s Health: Thursday, October 19th from 6:00PM-9:00PM

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Women Rising is bringing back its series “Stories of Hope,” at Hudson County Community College {25 Journal Square}, which will feature stories from survivors and the people who helped them along the way.
