Hoboken is famous for many things – Frank Sinatra, the birthplace of baseball, pizza slices the size of your head {we’re looking at you, Benny Tudino’s}. But for those who wouldn’t think to include beauty products on that list, to you we say – you just need to know where to look! Lucky for you, we’ve compiled a quick list of three unexpected places to find great beauty products right here in the Hoboken so now you can enjoy your pizza, get your glam on, AND say you did it myyy waaay {see what we did there?}.

The Golden Carrot {1102 Washington St.}

It’s pretty much guaranteed that a trip to the Golden Carrot on 11th & Wash will end with a veeeery long wish list of dainty jewelry {hubs, you reading this?}, but if you can peel your eyes off the stunning interior décor and glittering jewels, you may be surprised to find an offering of beauty & skincare products by Little Barn Apothecary. Jasmine and ocean water hair mist, a lemon and rice powder face mask, & honeysuckle and grapefruit body oil are among what’s available for purchase – but whatever you do, don’t leave without the coffee mint body scrub. The scent alone gives you an aromatic boost that’s almost as effective as… well, an actual cup of coffee, and the exfoliant property is second to none. {BTW, did you know the caffeine in coffee grounds helps eliminate cellulite? #themoreyouknow} This is exactly the kind of product you need in your shower to slough off all that dry, flaky winter skin and prep your bod for that spray tan you may be in dire need of {just speaking from personal experience, here}.

Anthropologie {412 Washington St.}

Hobbs Inc

Known for Insta-worthy home décor and unique clothing styles, Anthropologie has seriously stepped up its game in the beauty department in the last year. What was once a small display of beauty offerings in front of the checkout counter is now a sprawling section on the left-hand side of the store adjacent to the registers. There you’ll find everything from top-of-the-line skincare brands like Indie Lee, kai, and Mario Badescu to professional hair styling tools from eva nyc, gorgeously displayed in an antique cupboard. Keep your eyes peeled for products from Anthro’s own line, Albeit. The line boasts a brush collection, highlight and bronzing palette, lipsticks and balms {as well as a personal favorite – the Shimmer Stick in “Champagne” which delivers the most beautiful glow to your cheekbones in a single swipe}. Did we mention Albeit products are housed in simple yet elegant gold packaging, perfect for displaying on your vanity? Just sayin’.

If “clean” beauty is your thing, a) #respect, and b) you’re in luck – Anthro’s got a bunch of it. Cocovít, made of 100% certified organic, virgin coconut oil harvested in South India, has everything from pure coconut oil to coconut charcoal facial scrubs to draw impurities out from your pores. While you’re at it, grab a turmeric scrub from YLLO for a glowing complexion. Your face will thank you – and at only $12 your wallet won’t be mad either.

Makeovers {327 Washington St.}

It may not be surprising that a store called “Makeovers” would have beauty products for sale, but every time you visit, you’ll notice the offering has expanded. You’ll be greeted by a huge display of NYX Cosmetics, which typically can only be found in Target or Ulta {both a longer hike from Hoboken than a quick walk to Makeovers}. You’ll also find an expansive display of bodyography products {fun fact: my friend is the creative director of the brand – hi, Lori! – so we’ve got the inside scoop here}, ranging from foundations to blushes to some of the most stunning eyeshadows around.

Makeovers also has the full bareMinerals collection for sale, meaning you don’t have to trek to Sephora to shop the latest offerings from the beloved brand. Nude lip lovers: if you haven’t already tried the Gen Nude line, you don’t know what you’re missing. Go swatch them all, find your favorites, and thank us later. Oh, and did we mention there’s an overflowing basket of TooFaced products currently marked at 50% off? Whether you’re looking for powder, foundation, lip gloss, or cream blush, this little basket o’ magic is just sitting there pink and pretty. {Don’t say we didn’t warn you.}
