Beat the winter blues by checking out our list of how to get involved and volunteer in Hoboken and Jersey City this January. Liberty Humane Society Yappy Hour at the Ale House: Friday, January 5th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Raise a glass to making it through the first week of 2018 at Yappy Hour with the Liberty Humane Society. Purchase a $5 wristband at the door for drink specials and extended happy hour all night. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Liberty Humane Society. Best part? Your pup can come too! Registration and more information can be found here.

Cycle FTK Penn State THON Ride at CycleBar Hoboken: Saturday, January 6th at 2:00pm

Feel the burn and be part of the fight against childhood cancer when you sign up to Ride For The Kids! All money raised that day will support the Four Diamonds Fund, an organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to help with costs not covered by insurance for children and their families battling pediatric cancer. American Legion Building Homes for Heroes Event at Kolo Klub: Thursday, January 11th from 6:30pm – 9:30pm 

Be a part of an exciting night of food, drinks, and dancing to support homeless veteran housing and a community center in Hoboken. Try your luck at the silent auction featuring Devils, Giants, Jets and Yankees tickets, electronics, and more unique prizes. All proceeds from this evening will go towards the American Legion Post 107 capital campaign to rebuild and develop their existing site at 308 Second Street. Help them fully serve the men and women of Hudson County who have proudly served in the armed forces through the furnishing of the new center and creation and support of critical veteran programs. East Side Paint Party at East Side High School in Newark: Monday, January 15th from 9:00am – 12:00pm

Are you off from work for Martin Luther King Day? Spend your day out of the office doing good by brightening the halls of East Side High School in Newark with a fresh coat of paint. You must be 18+ to participate and you’re welcome to sign up solo or as a team. Registration is here and more information will be sent via email once signed up. Grab your girls and get painting!

Boys and Girls Club Gym Jamboree at Hoboken Boys and Girls Club: Monday, January 15th from 9:00am – 12:00pm

Want to get your paint on but don’t have a lift to Newark? You’re in luck! There will also be a paint party at the Hoboken Boys and Girls Club. Spend the morning helping to spruce up the gym and feel good the rest of the day. Registration is here and more info will be sent via email once signed up.

Hoboken Girl Helps Warm Clothing Drive {Benefiting York Street Project at Hoboken Girl HQ}: Thursday, January 18th 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Join us for our 1st Hoboken Girl Helps Event of 2018! Check out the brand new Hoboken Girl Office on River Street, meet other Hoboken girls interested in giving back, learn about Jersey City-based organization York Street Project, and indulge in some hot chocolate from Sunnyside Cafe and Eatery with the HG team. Please bring new items for women and children {underwear, socks, coats, gloves, scarves, hats, etc.} to benefit York Street — they must be NEW. Socks and underwear and especially needed. Coats can be GENTLY USED {but *must* be dry cleaned with no stains or rips}. Check out our event post here and RSVP to be let in with your donations here. Liberty Humane Society Pulls for Pups at 150 Bay CrossFit: Saturday, January 20th from 9:30am – 1:00pm

Need motivation to keep your New Year’s resolution to get fit? What better than knowing your workout is helping homeless animals that come into the Liberty Humane Society’s care. Participants will be divided up into groups of 6 to row a half marathon so get your hustle on! Local food and draft beer will be provided post-workout. Register and get more information here.

TRUEMentor 7th Anniversary Party at the Boys and Girls Club: Saturday, January 20th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Happy 7th birthday to TRUEMentors! Celebrate seven years of providing mentors to children in Hoboken with mentors, mentees, family and friends. There’ll be pizza, ice cream, games and prizes. A short recognition ceremony will also honor their Matches of the Year. The event is free! Get your party hat ready and find more information here.

Mama Mare Foundation Drink for Pink Pub Crawl: Saturday, January 20th from 1:00pm – 7:00pm

Save the date for the 6th annual Drink for Pink Pub crawl sponsored by the Mama Mare Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of Kimberly B. Zander and Mary Ellen Pernice. The first stop is Texas Arizona at 1:00pm {where you can also register day of} followed by Tally Ho, then McSwiggans and wrapping up at The Shannon. The crawl includes drink specials, DJs and an event tee, all while raising awareness and money for a great cause! The mission of the Mama Mare Breast Cancer Foundation is to provide support services to breast cancer patients and their families, and raise funds for biomedical research being conducted in search for a cure. Circle of Light Fundraiser for Family Promise of Hudson County at Sattva Yoga Jersey City: Friday, January 26th at 7:00pm

Wind down from a busy week and help support Family Promise of Hudson County at Sattva Yoga’s monthly circle of light gathering. The session features breathwork, soothing movement, guided meditation and deep relaxation. Best of all, 50% of the proceeds will go to support Hudson Family Promise, a local organization focused on helping homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. 2018 Mutzfest Benefiting the Hoboken Family Alliance at the Elks Lodge: Sunday, January 28th from 2:00pm – 6:00pm

Is there anything better to Hoboken Girls than fresh mutz?! Fresh mutz that also gives back, that’s what. Mutzfest returns this year with entertainment, a cannoli eating contest, Frank Sinatra sing-a-long and of course, fresh mozzarella from local faves like Frankie & Ava’s, M&P Biancamano’s, Margherita’s, Tony Boloney’s and Vito’s Deli. VIP tickets are on sale for $50 now, GA for $25 go on sale January 11th, admission is free for kids 12 and under. The event benefits the Hoboken Family Alliance.
