It’s the season of cupid, candy hearts, and secret admirers! What better way to show your love this February than by getting involved and volunteering in Hoboken and Jersey City. Whether your valentine is your boo, your pup, or your bestie, there’s a way for you to give back this month. Here is the list of February 2018 volunteering opportunities in Hoboken and Jersey City, so you can get involved:

Cool Down for Warmth at the Prudential Center Championship Plaza: Thursday, February 1st and Friday, February 2nd

NJ SHARES is teaming up with world renowned ice and sand sculptor, Ed Jarrett, to celebrate its 20th Anniversary with a unique fundraising event! Ed is building an ice house to showcase the critical importance of heat during the cold winter months. Swing by the Prudential Center Championship Plaza in downtown Newark to check out the ice house and watch as willing participants try to stay inside until they’ve met their fundraising goal – $2,500 per team or $1,000 per individual. 100 percent of funds raised will be used to provide utility assistance grants to area families in need via NJ Shares. Liberty Humane Society Yappy Hour at Ale House: Friday, February 2nd from 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Is your pup your valentine this year? Get a head start on celebrating at Liberty Humane Society Yappy Hour! Purchase a $5 wristband at the door to enjoy drink specials and an extended happy hour. This is a dog friendly event so your furry cupid is welcome to come along. 100% of proceeds go to benefit the animals of Liberty Humane Society. Bethune Night Out “Where Culture and Community Unite” at the Bethune Center: Friday, February 2nd from 5:00pm – 9:30pm

Kick off Black History Month at Hudson Speaks’ 3rd Bethune Night Out Event. Enjoy an abundance of art, film, live music, and culture while mingling, socializing and networking with community members. Hudson County CASA Information Session at the Hudson County Admin Building: Tuesday, February 6th at 6:30pm

Are you great with kids? Have you been looking for a way to make an impact? If so, Hudson County CASA has the right program for you. CASA volunteers are paired with a local foster child and have monthly visits to get to know his or her circumstances. Information is also compiled from various sources like doctors, teachers and social workers to make recommendations to a judge based on the child’s needs. Sound intriguing? Round 2 Resources Show Your Love Fundraiser at The Beacon: Thursday, February 8th 6:30pm – 9:30pm

Round 2 Resources is a not for profit organization committed to protecting the environment, so show your love for the Earth this February by supporting their Valentine’s Day Fundraiser! Shop for gifts for your sweetie or galentine, enjoy a light buffet dinner sponsored by the Brightside Tavern, and sip on wine and champagne from Pastore Wine and Liquors. A portion of the proceeds will go back to Round 2 Resources. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.

Hoboken Public Education Foundation 3rd Annual Moms Night Out at Willie McBrides: Thursday, February 8th from 7:30pm – 10:30pm

Get the weekend started early and support the Hoboken Public Education Foundation at their 3rd Annual Moms Night Out. Toss a few back at the open bar, snack on some light food, and jam out to music with other Mile Square Mamas. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here.

TRUE Mentors’ Stand Up NY Fundraiser at Stand Up NYC: Thursday, February 8th at 7:30pm

What better excuse for a Hoboken Girl to cross the Hudson than a night of laughs for a good cause? Get ready to crack up at Stand Up NY. All ticket proceeds will benefit TRUE Mentors. Guests must be 18 or older {16+ guests can attend with a parent or guardian} and the venue has a two drink minimum. Purchase tickets in advance here and use code TRUE to have your admission donated.

Hudson Hospice Mardi Gras Tricky Tray at Chandelier Catering: Thursday, February 8th at 6:00pm

Dress for Success Valentine’s Day Ball at Liberty House: Friday, February 9th at 6:00pm

Celebrate love while supporting Dress for Success Hudson County at their Valentine’s Day Ball. Get glitzy for this black tie optional night night out. New City Kids Ride and Flow Charity Ride at CYCLEBAR: Saturday February 10th at 4:00pm

Get ready to ride with CYCLEBAR and New City Kids. Lock in your bike at one of three levels: Light Rider {$35}, Flow Rider {$55}, or Rough Rider {$75}. All of the proceeds from the ride will support local kids and teens in New City Kids Leadership Development Program. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church: Tuesday, February 13th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Is there anything better than breakfast for dinner? Dig in to delicious pancakes, Irma’s Famous Sangria, and enter the Pancake Flipping Contest if you dare! Enjoy entertainment and get to know your neighbors and friends. Adult entry is $8 and kids under 12 are $4. All proceeds support Saint Paul’s feeding and hospitality ministries. Friends of UACHS Fundraiser at Brightside Tavern: Thursday, February 15th from 6:00pm – 10:00pm

Support the Friends of University Academy Charter School at Brightside Tavern. Tickets are $25 and include one drink, a buffet, music, and games! Friends of UACHS consists of parents, alumni and community members {like you!} who are dedicated to supporting the vision and goals of University Academy Charter High School in Jersey City. Deckaid Jerz Art Exhibit Benefiting Boards for Bros at Proto Gallery: Saturday, February 17th from 7:00pm – 10:00pm

Boards for Bros NJ is a group of skateboarders working together to collect, refurbish and redistribute skateboards back into the community for kids who can’t afford one of their own. HCST Foundation Fast Track to Success Fundraiser at RPM Raceway: Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Sick of Hoboken and Jersey City traffic? Hit the open road {well, track} at the Hudson County Schools of Technology Winter Fundraiser. Enjoy indoor race carting, food, winer and beer and help support students at High Tech High, County Prep High School and Explore 2000 Middle School. Guests must be 21 and older. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here, along with sponsorship opportunities.
