Happy Super Bowl {or just February 2nd – 4th} weekend! Whether you’re partaking in the football festivities or need something else to do with your days off, there is  plenty to do in Hoboken and Jersey City — including a slew of events if you DON’T like football. Here are 11 things to do this weekend in Hoboken and Jersey City.

Mile Square Theatre’s Driving Miss Daisy Opening: Friday, February 2nd

Rub shoulders with Broadway stars at Hoboken’s own Mile Square Theatre season opener party on Friday, February 2nd. The MST season opens with Alfred Uhry’s powerful masterpiece Driving Miss Daisy, a timeless story set in the American South, about an elderly Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur who share a friendship that transcends class and race. The cast includes Barbara Broughton {Broadway’s Sunday in the Park with George}, Count Stovall {Broadway’s A Streetcar Named Desire), and Matthew Lawler (MST’s Betrayal and ABC’s The Family} and will be directed by Mark Cirnigliaro. The season opener party starts with a reception at 7pm, catered by Amanda’s Restaurant, with signature cocktails, wine and beer while you mingle with the stars of the night’s show. Showtime 8pm. Bethune Night Out: Friday, February 2nd from 5:00PM-9:30PM

In honor of Black History Month, head to a soul jam with Hudson Speaks Against Sexual Violence. Culture and community unite on the dance floor with music by DJ Midnight and an indoor market supporting local artists. Get more details here.

Truth Art Show Opening: Friday, February 2nd at 7:00PM

Truth is a new art show opening at Jersey City Theatre Center featuring interactive installations, performance art, projections, and a gallery showing off more than a dozen cutting-edge artists including Luis Alves Jr. Frank Ippolito, Alex Katsenelinboigen, and Zoe Sua Kay. The opening night will feature an artist talk, and the exhibit will feature other curated showcases. Get more details here.

Yappy Hour at The Ale House: Friday, February 2nd from 7:00PM-9:00PM

It’s that time again: Yappy Hour. Head out to The Ale House for a night of booze and pups {hint: bring your dog}. All of the proceeds will benefit The Liberty Humane Society. Wristbands are $5 and will get you drink specials. Get more details here.

JC Whiskey Fest: Friday, February 2nd

It’s time to get your drink on at the JC Whiskey Fest at Harborside 3 Atrium this weekend with a gorgeous view of the NYC skyline. Your ticket includes a 5 ounce sample cup, unlimited samples, music, food, plenty of vendors and more. At the event, you can drink over 100 types of whiskey from Japanese to cognac. Hudson Restaurant Week 2018: Through February 2nd

Are you ready to eat till your can’t eat anymore? Our favorite time of the year is here {well, it happens twice a year} thanks to Hudson Restaurant Week. This winter week [January 22nd – February 2nd], over 40 restaurants will be dishing out their most creative plates for very special prices and pre-fixed menus. Move and Groove Dance Party at Beyond Daycare: Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00AM-12:00PM

Get the kiddos out and about with a fun and fit class at Beyond Daycare. As part of its Saturday series, the Move and Groove class will motivate your kids to jump around, let out some energy, and have a great time with other kids their age. Space is limited: rsvp here.

Astrology Class at Asana Soul Practice: Saturday, February 3rd from 1:30PM-3:30PM

In this two-hour class, you’ll learn about real astrology: not your horoscope you read everyday. Led by Lucianna Silvestri, this interactive class involves yoga and plenty of information about astrology. The class is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Get your tickets here.

Britt-ish Invasion at Northern Soul: Saturday, February 3rd at 7:00PM

Local band Britt-ish Invasion will be playing at Northern Soul {700 1st Street} this weekend to celebrate their new album release. Hear retro blues and rock covers and original songs. Find out more about the band here.

One Art Hoboken Presents 4/Baraka: Saturday, February 3rd at 8:00PM

Hear from some of the top artists at Cafe Touba {300 Observer Highway} with a music event by Issyra Gallery. You’ll hear from reg e gaines, an author playwright, director, two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee and Bessie Award winner for Best Book/Lyrics for the Broadway hit Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk. The show is FREE, but a hat will be passed around to donate and support the artists. Get more info here.

Super Bowl at The Elks Lodge: Sunday, February 4th at 5:00PM

Calling all Super Bowl fans: head to Hoboken Elks Lodge {1005 Washington Street} to watch the game and support a good cause. There is a $10 donation at the door to benefit the Hoboken Elks 2018 Special Needs Christmas party. Get more info here.
