American Legion Fundraiser at Kolo Klub: Thursday, January 11th from 6:30PM-9:30PM

Join the American Legion Post 107 in raising money for the rebuilding efforts post-Superstorm Sandy and to raise capital for a new community center for homeless veterans. Head out to Kolo Klub {1422 Grand Street} for live music, open bar, and plenty of raffle prizes. All of the proceeds from the ticket sales and auction items will go towards a $1 million capital campaign for the development of a full-scale facility at the American Legion’s existing site at 308 Second Street. “Desolated” Exhibit Opening at Barsky Gallery: Saturday, January 13th from 6:00PM-9:00PM

Known for its world-class contemporary artwork, Barsky Gallery {49 Harrison Street} is opening its newest exhibit by NYC-based artist Valery Yershov. You can check out his work, “Desolated,” through February 24th. The exhibit showcases 20 new paintings, in which isolated characters of women and allegorical goats are displaced in their environment. Homeless Food & Supply Collection at Shoprite: Saturday, January 13th from 10:00AM- 2:00PM

Head out to the Jersey City Shoprite {400 Marin Blvd.} to donate food and supplies for St. Lucy’s Shelter in downtown JC. You can also volunteer for one of two shifts: 10AM – 12PM and 12PM – 2PM. Get more details here.

JCTC Kids Presents Mishka Opening: Through January 13th

The children’s programming division of Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents an international tale bound to make any holiday season complete at Merseles Studios {339-345 Newark Avenue}. JCTC-KIDS Presents Shadow Theatre is a live, story-telling experience where fairytales, folklore and children’s literature from around the world are performed using shadow puppets – a form of puppetry that dates back to ancient times. Riding For the Future at CycleBar: Sunday, January 14th at 12:30PM

Ride for a cause at CycleBar {720 Monroe} to support The Hope and Future Center. Over 500 kids actively attend the center, which uses sports and fitness to teach kids in North Bergen and Union City the value of hard work while developing character and leadership skills. Sign up for the class here.
