The only thing that can possibly bring us more over the moon joy than crisp, fall air is spending our weekends enjoying all the festivities that Hudson County has to offer. This weekend is full of ways to give back — from another portrait event helping out Puerto Rico and the Liberty Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser, to Breast Cancer Awareness fundraisers, there are a ton of ways to do good in the area. Here are 17 things to do in Hoboken and Jersey City this weekend.

The Flying Ivories Duo at The Shep: Friday, October 13th from 9:00 PM – Midnight

Hoboken 2017 Candidates Forum at Mile Square Theatre: Thursday, October 12th at 7:00PM  

Feel confident in your vote this year by staying informed about the candidates. Head out to Mile Square Theatre {1400 Clinton Street} for the first forum, which will last about two hours. Brought to you by the Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition, voters will get the opportunity to ask this year’s Hoboken candidates the questions they care about. Fall Cocktail Tasting: Thursday, October 12th from 8:00PM-10:00PM

Head out to Grand Vin for live music and a spirited time with festive fall drinks. Merciful Delusions at Mile Square Theatre: Friday, October 13th at 7:00PM

Put an end to the dreaded Friday the 13th with a play at Mile Square Theatre {1400 Clinton Street} that also serves as a fundraiser for the Hurricane Relief Fund {all proceeds will go to the cause}. Brought to you by HB Studio in New York City, Merciful Delusions is comprised of four one act plays by Tennessee Williams. Tickets are $40 and include admission, food, wine, desserts, and coffee. Jersey City Studio Tour: Sunday, October 15th from 12:00PM-6:00PM

As a hub for all things art in New Jersey, the Jersey City Art + Studio tour is sure not to disappoint. For two days, you can get a passport to JC’s visual arts, film, mural, and music scenes. With more than 200 art events featuring more than 500 artists, you’ll certainly be inspired. Find out more here.

Bark in the Park at Church Square Park: Saturday, October 14th from 12:00PM-5:00PM

Liberty Humane Society’s largest fundraiser event is here again. Every year, thousands of people come together for the greater good of our furry friends. The event will be at Church Square Park and will include a walk, bounce house, food trucks, and of course plenty of adoptable animals that you can meet and greet. Of course, you won’t want to miss the famous pet fashion show either. Feel free to bring your own dog along for the fun. Register here.

Yoga for Birth at Hudson Yoga Project: Saturday, October 14th at 4:00PM

Mamas to be — this one’s for you. Join Kim W, a prenatal yoga teacher, at a yoga for childbirth class so you’re all set and prepped leading up to and during the big day. The class costs $90 per couple {who should bring a long scarf with them}. Get more information here.

Yoga Class For Hudson County Schools: Saturday, October 14th at 12:00PM

Take a breather while supporting two local schools: Elysian Charter School in Hoboken and High Tech High School in North Bergen at an outdoor yoga class with Kelly Naughton under the viaduct {14th Street}. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, so do your part at Alba Boutique’s “Women Empowering Women” shopping event{716 Washington Street}. There will be sweets and bubbles, think pink shopping promos, jewelry from local cancer survivor Kaliada, and exclusive raffles from women-owned Hoboken businesses. A portion of the proceeds will benefit DearHeart Charitable Foundation, which supports families affected by breast cancer.

Pride Vogue Ball at White Eagle Hall: Saturday, October 14th at 3:00PM

Celebrate National Coming Out Day with the annual Vogue Ball at White Eagle Hall {337 Newark Ave}. This time around, it’s presented alongside the Jersey City Art and Studio Tour {see below} and will feature local youth competing for prizes in “vogueing,” which is an improvisational style of dance. Walk to honor the millions who’ve been affected by taking part in the Congenital Heart Walk in New York City at Riverbank State Park {679 Riverside Drive} while benefitting the Adult Congenital Heart Association and The Children’s Heart Foundation.
