If you get completely star struck, have always dreamt of visiting La La Land, or are just itching to head out west, then you just can’t beat Los Angeles, California for your next getaway. Combining a downtown city, gorgeous beaches, iconic attractions, and chic Beverly Hills vibes, Los Angeles has something for everyone. Your #HobokenTravels bucket list just got a bit longer, didn’t it? Here’s your weekend getaway guide to Los Angeles, California:

Flights

First things first, grab an Uber from Hoboken to JFK for your direct flight to LAX courtesy of Delta Airlines. Before you land, be sure to cue up Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA,” to play right as you “hop off the plane at LAX.” {Yep – we went there.}

Hotel Picks

The Standard, Downtown LA {Trendy + Hip}

Snap Fitness JC

This 4-star property boasts 207 chic and trendy guest rooms, three bars and lounges, a rooftop terrace, and an outdoor pool. Nestled in downtown LA, you’re just a short walk from the Microsoft Theater, Staples Center, convention center, and more.

Harborside Sport + Spine

The W, West Beverly Hills {Bougie + Modern}

Hobbs Inc

If you’re a fan of the W Hoboken, this property is a must-see. Similarly decorated with chic, modern décor and one-of-a-kind design, The W is only 12 miles away from LAX, and is just down the street from UCLA, and only four miles from the famed Rodeo Drive.

Avalon Hotel, Beverly Hills {Boutique}

AXIS School of Dance

Priding themselves on being unique and “small batch,” the Avalon Hotel, Beverly Hills spans three buildings with a variety of studios, suites, and even a penthouse. In-room spa treatments, yoga, and personal training also make it a super convenient spot to rest when you’re not hitting up tinsel town.

The Beverly Hilton {Iconic}

Chances are you’ve seen this place before, as it’s hosted the golden Globes, and tons of red carpet events, and its Aqua Star Pool has set the scene in many photo and film shoots. With 569 guest rooms {101 suites!} its located on Wilshire Boulevard, just off Santa Monica Boulevard, and is a must-see for the true Beverly Hills experience.

Places to Eat and Drink

Providence {Fine Dining}

If you’re a seafood lover and are in the market for a true fine dining experience, this two-Michelin Star restaurant offers more menu options than you can dream of, including seasonal tasting menus that are out of this world.

In-N-Out Burger

If you go to LA and get In-N-Out Burger, but don’t post it on Insta, did it really happen? A staple of west-coast fast food, you MUST give their burgers, fries, and shakes a try. {Don’t forget to get it “Animal Style!”}

The Ivy

A famed celeb hangout, the iconic restaurant, The Ivy, offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner amongst beautifully and colorfully appointed floral, shabby chic décor that is quintessentially LA. With two locations, one on Robertson Boulevard and one in Santa Monica, you’ll have twice the opportunity to enjoy their American fare and chance celeb encounters. Just be sure to make reservations before you go, especially for brunch!

Mel’s Drive In

Ok, so it’s actually not a drive in – a bit misleading — BUT there’s delicious diner food, perfect for a quick breakfast prior to heading to the beaches or sightseeing. With charming 1950s vibes and a few LA locations to pick from, grab a booth and enjoy delicious pancakes, omelets, or really anything your heart and belly desires.

The Polo Lounge

Another great spot to people watch, The Polo Lounge, within the Beverly Hills Hotel, has breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, as well as delectable cocktails sure to please any palate. Home of the infamous McCarthy salad {think of it as a version of a classic cobb salad} and the Steak Frites for lunch, or the Braised Duck Parpardelle for dinner are fan favorites.

Places to Go Out / Have Cocktails

WET Deck @ The W Beverly Hills

For poolside craft cocktails in the sun, you can’t go wrong with a daytime indulgence at the Wet Deck, located at the W Beverly Hill. A perfect little reprieve from sightseeing, why not sip on some Frose’ while working on your California tan for a few hours. {You can even rent a brand new luxurious cabana, complete with trendy Trina Turk prints, television, and full service.}

PUMP

Whether you are a Bravo/Pump Rules fanatic or are just looking for the perfect happy hour spot, PUMP’s outdoor courtyard is perfectly enchanting. Surrounded by lush greens, perfectly pink and purple florals, crystals and twinkling fairy lights, sip on champagne for as long as you want while kicking back and relaxing – you are on vacation after all.

The Roger Room

If you’re a sucker for a good speakeasy, The Roger Room is the perfect destination for craft cocktails amongst a unique, vintage setting. Classic + charming + cocktails = yes, please!

Beer Belly

Beer lovers, rejoice! The Long Beach location of Beer Belly offers craft beer {and craft food!}, with an awesome happy hour Mon-Fri from 5-7PM, and Sundays 3-7PM. They serve craft beer from throughout the LA region, so you can sip locally brewed beverages amongst relaxed vibes, while being not too far from the beautiful beaches.

Sightseeing MUSTS

Griffith Observatory

For breathtaking views of the city {and incredible photo ops, too! Seriously, set your iPhone to portrait mode and you’ll get some pretty great shots}, The Griffith Observatory atop Griffith Park is nestled amongst Mount Hollywood. Featuring exhibitions, a planetarium, and a gorgeous “view from the top,” it’s a must-visit spot. {You might recognize this from one of the iconic scenes in La La Land.}

The Hollywood Sign

This famous landmark should be on your LA Bucket List, whether you snap photos from below, or ambitiously hike to the top of Mount Lee, where it calls home.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame

With 2,600+ stars to visit, the walk of a fame can be a fun walk, as it stretches 15 blocks on Hollywood Blvd., and three blocks of Vine St.

Disneyland

Whether you’re a Mickey aficionado, Disney Princess at heart, or are just looking to relive your youth, Disneyland {the original park designed by Walt himself!} is only about a 45-minute Uber from the LA area.

Santa Monica Pier

Chances are, Jersey girls and guys alike have a special place in their hearts for boardwalks, so be sure to check out how the West Coast does beachfront fun with rides, games, grub, and beyond.

Studio Tours

Go behind the scenes of some of your favorite television shows and movies by taking a tour of a production lot. Warner Brothers Studios, for example, takes you to the sound stages and sets of The Big Bang Theory, Pretty Little Liars, Shameless, Fuller House, and more. If you’re in the mood for more tours, there are also driving tours available to take you by some of the impressive and luxurious celebrity homes, too!

HG Insider Tips

– LA has incredible weather, especially in the summer – but don’t let those warm sunny temps fool you. It can get pretty chilly at night, so be sure to pack {OR shop for a new} comfy jacket or sweater.

– Have your camera ready at a moment’s notice – you never know who you’ll run into in the City of Angels – whether you’re trying to find celebs, or not!

– LA is very much a driving city, and Uber makes it totally convenient to get from place to place without having to worry about expensive valets.

And, that’s a wrap! The City of Stars is the perfect summer/early fall getaway.
