If you’ve ever grabbed breakfast or lunch from the Whealth + Co cafe at Harborside Terminal or have been lucky enough to attend an event that they’ve catered, you know that these guys turn out some good #eeeeats.

So, it’s safe to say that when we heard that owner, David Trotta, had plans to expand into Journal Square {615 Pavonia Ave}, we got pretty excited. And when we heard they were hosting Friday night dinners?

We reserved our table immediately. Here’s why you should, too.

Locally sourced foods = a rotating menu of deliciousness.

The 3-course pre-fixe menu {only $45, ya’ll} is completely sourced from local farms and changes weekly. Everything is served family-style and, believe me, there’s plenty to go around.

Hobbs Inc

Our menu was basically fall on a plate: roasted pumpkin with maple bacon, grilled fig and goat cheese with balsamic, braised grass fed beef and heritage pork, pesto spaghetti squash and a ‘happy ending’ consisting of sake poached pears with homemade ginger ice cream. (And that wasn’t even the entire menu.)

AXIS School of Dance

There’s some serious Brooklyn-esque vibes going on.

Dim lighting, large windows, leafy plants and reclaimed wood from Jersey City’s own Cathedral Hall, make this spot equally perfect for a lively group dinner or a cozy date night.

The open kitchen makes you feel like part of the experience and the staff treats everyone like long-lost friends. The atmosphere + photo-worthy food = total Instagram heaven. #eeeeats #foodporn #nomnom

You can treat yo’ self {and not feel too guilty}.

The whole premise behind Whealth + Co is serving up good, healthy food in a warm environment. Every dish that came out was full of flavor and super fresh.

Despite how much food was served, the typical, heavy did-I-really-need-to-finish-that slump afterwards was nowhere to be found. Plus, the family-style sharing plates allow you to sample a bit of everything. And it’s BYOB. Enough said.

Whealth + Co, located @ Journal Squared, is now open for breakfast, lunch and Friday night dinners (2 seatings: 6pm and 8pm).

Pro tip: We got the feeling that the 6pm is the more family-friendly option (i.e., kids). There are also talks of adding a Saturday night seating option as well as a live music night in the near future … so stay tuned. Check out their Insta @whealthandco for updates and drool-worthy images.
