Whole Fresh Market Place opens in Hoboken. If you read that quickly, you *may* have confused the title with Whole Foods…not the case, BUT it’s bringing a nice little organic supermarket to downtown Hoboken which is definitely lacking in this area. We checked out the Whole Fresh Market this week {which had its soft opening this weekend} and are sharing the scoop {as well as some brands you can find inside — including Choc-o-Pain}:
Located at 101 Marshall Street in SW Hoboken, Whole Fresh Market is bringing a whole {pun intended} new crop of organic food options to town. The supermarket is railroad-style, spanning several aisles’ worth of food from start to finish. WFM had a soft opening this weekend, and it’s clear the owners are still in beginning stages of being fully stocked, but there was plenty of food to go around.
Among the brands we observed coming through {they were loading as this little snoop sesh went down, so this is DEF not comprehensive by any means}:
- – Daiya
- – Honest
- – Inko’s
- – Traditional Medicinals
- – Ancient Harvest
- – Annie’s
- – Fage
- – Brown Cow
- – Nature’s Path
- – Milkadamia
- – Pacific
- – Back to Nature
- and tons more!
It definitely seems like the store focuses on convenience factor, with lots of snacks and treats {all or most are organic and all-natural, some gluten-free, etc. — including yogurt, kombucha, the works}. They have a decent-sized produce section — all organic we should add — still getting built up, and as far as meats, items were present but it looks like that area will be growing once they’re fully stocked.
Choc-o-Pain Bakery also has a small baked goods section within, with sandwiches-to-go, croissants, quiches, and more offered to customers. So, should you be super hangry, you can grab a tuna sandwich and sit at their little bar by the registers for a bite before heading out. Bon Appetit!
Pricing-wise, taking a scan of the room, cereals were in the $5-$6 range {expensive, but in a pinch great for a go-to when you want a healthier brand and don’t feel like trekking far}. Feeling hungry and adventurous {but low on transport means}, we opted for a Thai coconut and macro bar, coming to $10+ for both {Thai coconut was $6.49}. Even with price tags that feel a bit elevated, it’s really nice to have a health-focused grocery store in Southwest Hoboken for residents — and not far from Jersey City Heights, either! Parking is street-only, but if you live nearby, you’re in luck, and there is metered parking on the street that wasn’t too hard to snag. Win/win.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Whole Fresh Market Place!
