Last weekend’s blizzard brought more snow in one storm than Hoboken has seen in a long time. Travel was difficult throughout the storm, which made it impossible for a local woman who went into labor to get to the hospital. According to NJ.com, three EMTs from the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. helped deliver the baby at the home on 12th Street. The baby and mother were then safely transported to Hoboken University Medical Center.

Public Invited to Washington Street Design Meeting

The City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, February 8th at 7:00PM to discuss the final design for Washington Street. The meeting is open to all members of the community and will include a presentation by the engineering firm tasked with completing the final design.  The redesign will aim to make Washington Street safer as it is the most dangerous street in town. The plan includes replacement of the 100-year-old water main as well as street redesigns that will allow safe access for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, and transit riders.  Click here to review the proposed reconfiguration of Hoboken’s main-hub.

24-year old Matt Genovese was reported missing on January 25th after spending the evening with friends on January 23rd. He was last reported leaving McSwiggan’s between 10:30 and 11:30PM when he said he was heading home. Tragically, his body was recovered from the Hudson river on Tuesday afternoon. His wallet and keys were found in Pier A. Further details have not yet been released as the incident is still being investigated. This tragedy seems all too familiar with many people acknowledging similarities between the 2014 disappearance of Andrew Jarzyk.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Matt Genovese.
